Dual Diagnosis

Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program:

Following increasing recognition of the links between mental illness, substance abuse, and criminal behavior, SHARPER FUTURE has collaborated in developing a specialized dual-diagnosis treatment program for parolees. This program addresses substance abuse issues and mental health problems concurrently. Alternative coping strategies are taught as solid community reintegration plans are developed, integrated and implemented. A cognitive-behavioral approach is emphasized and experiential learning is provided in areas involving social skills, daily living tasks, thinking errors, self-esteem issues, and substance abuse relapse prevention. The goal of the Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program is to break the cycle of mental illness symptoms, substance abuse, and criminal behavior. SHARPER FUTURE works collaboratively with referring agencies to maintain these participants in the community.
